I have just watched that film and i really liked it!  It’s a romantic comedy and it really defines differences between the genders. What a man says and what a woman understands. I recommend this film!

“Gigi: Maybe his grandma died or maybe he lost my number or is out of town or got hit by a cab…

Alex: Or maybe he is not interested in seeing you again.”

He was born in İstanbul, 1941. Graduated from the State Academy of Fine Arts-Nurullah Berk
Studio, İstanbul. Then he worked with Corneille at the International Salzburg Summer Academy, 1971. He had lots of personal exhibitions and won 8 awards. Now he is an  instructor
at the Mimar Sinan University. The activation of the 1970s generation gave him inspiration in his paintings.
I like his paintings because, first their colors look so attractive. He uses reverse colors together,  he paints bright yellow on to black. And this makes us feel the sharpness of his paintings. Although these paintings are abstract they look so active! I love the colors that he uses!

His paintings show the psychological situation and the deformation of human in hierarchic societies. He wants to figure out the differences between people’s faces and the bodies which had become similar by the industrial system.

“Stephen Wright is a figure painter working in a genre he terms Subjective Realism. Wright believes that since objectivity in Realism is unattainable, painting in a realist manner is a profound way to reveal subjective states. Wright’s work is punctuated with intense passages, bold croppings, and vertiginous perspectives. His descriptive modeling of form lends a specific clarity and plasticity to his subjects. A sense of urgency and deep investigation are palpable in his canvases. These elements reveal the subjective basis that Wright builds his Realism on. Wright’s restraint and subtle pervasiveness in unveiling these subjective underpinnings result in psychological complexity across his paintings that induce a sense of the Uncanny in the viewer.”

Adnan Elmasoğlu

I add this work to my favorites becuse the typografy that Adnan Elmasoğlu uses is really good. This is an advertisement for Jazz Festival and he uses simple fonts and he puts some shapes on the left side which remind of piano and flute or saxophone. Also at the bottom of this picture the three vertical shape and the horizantal tube remind us a flute. So i think this work is successful.

Ahmet Coka’s web site:  www.cokabook.com

I had a presentation in my typografy class and i represented three of  my favourite graphic designers. Ahmet Coka is the one of them. I like his works because they look so plain. For example in the first picture which is the advertasiment of Efes Pilsen, the bottles look so bright because he puts them on the grey background and the bottles color is orange. the conflict of the colors makes this advertisement attractive. In the advertisement of Hillside Su for “Good Food Weekend” i like the three dimensional look of the strawberry. It look so eatable ! And i like the relation between food and water (Su). There is no much need to say anything for Audi because i think it look so cool!
